Curriculum Highlights

Students are trained in critical areas such as medical terminology, specimen collection, pharmacology, medical ethics, and laboratory procedures. Practical skills include administering injections, performing EKGs, and managing patient records. The program also emphasizes professionalism, patient communication, and legal compliance in medical settings. Each module combines theory, hands-on lab work, and interactive instruction to build confidence and competence in medical assisting.

Course Structure

The six modules cover specific areas of medical assisting:

  • MA 101: Role and Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant
  • MA 102: Clinical Assisting and Pharmacology
  • MA 103: Hematology and Specimen Collection
  • MA 104: Cardiopulmonary and Electrocardiography
  • MA 105: Laboratory Procedures
  • MA 106: Medical Law, Ethics, and Psychology

The program concludes with MA 107, a supervised externship that allows students to apply their skills in a real-world healthcare environment.

Hands-On Externship

The 160-hour externship provides students with invaluable practical experience in medical offices or clinics. During this phase, students apply classroom learning to patient care, clinical procedures, and administrative tasks. The externship is essential for bridging the gap between training and professional practice, ensuring graduates are job-ready.

Flexible Scheduling

To accommodate students’ diverse needs, the program offers both morning and evening classes. The blended format includes in-person lab sessions and lectures conducted online, making it a suitable option for those balancing education with work or family commitments.

Tuition and Costs

The total cost of the program is $8,000, which covers tuition, books, scrubs, lab materials, a national certification exam, and certifications for CPR, HIPAA, and OSHA. No additional fees are required. Payment plans are available to make the program more accessible to students.

Financial Aid and Support

For students concerned about the cost of education, financial aid options, including Federal Student Aid programs, are available to those who qualify. Woodruff’s Financial Planning Department assists students with applications, loan processing, and exploring funding opportunities. Payment plans are also offered for added flexibility.
